Carpenter

Company Overview

Sacred Oak Homes has been building and remodeling homes and businesses throughout the Berkshires and surrounding areas since 1990. Over the years, we have built strong relationships with skilled local artisans, craftspeople, and suppliers to deliver high-quality workmanship and reliable service.

We foster a collaborative, mindful work environment focused on clear communication and efficient project schedules. Our team works closely with architects, clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to help clients realize their building goals with care and precision.

The Opportunity

As a Carpenter with Sacred Oak Homes, you will work on a variety of residential and light commercial projects throughout Berkshire County, directly under the supervision of a Lead Carpenter. You will take part in constructing, installing, and repairing structural and finish elements using wood, plywood, metal studs, drywall, and related materials, all while adhering to local building codes.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced craftsperson who wants steady, high-quality work, the chance to refine their skills alongside a seasoned team, and a clear path to taking on more responsibility over time.

What You'll Do

  • Build and install foundations, walls, floors, ceilings, and roofs using wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composite materials.
  • Fit and install window frames, doors, door frames, hardware, and interior/exterior trim using levels, plumb bobs, and laser levels.
  • Erect and safely use scaffolding and ladders to assemble structures and complete work at elevated heights.
  • Measure, cut, and install timbers, lumber, and paneling to specified dimensions, including drilling, fastening, and sanding to a clean finish.
  • Maintain a safe, organized job site by selecting and transporting tools and materials, cleaning work areas and equipment, and supporting the Lead Carpenter as needed.

What Success Looks Like

  • Within the first 36 months, consistently deliver accurate framing and finish work that meets project specifications and passes inspections without rework.
  • Reliably follow safety practices and site procedures, contributing to an incident-free job site.
  • Communicate effectively with the Lead Carpenter and team, proactively asking questions and clarifying plans to keep work flowing smoothly.
  • Become a go-to contributor who can be trusted to handle tasks independently and help keep projects on schedule.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience, including framing and finish work.
  • Eagerness to learn, take direction from a Lead Carpenter, and continuously improve your craft.
  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety and the ability to complete a company-specific safety orientation.
  • High integrity, professionalism, and communication skills, with the ability to work harmoniously as part of a team.
